On the heels of The Castañeda Firm’s tenth anniversary, firm founder Chrysta Castañeda is celebrating another milestone: five consecutive years on The Best Lawyers in America’s list of the top attorneys in the country. She was once again recognized for her work in commercial litigation and oil and gas law.
“It’s a monumental year for The Castañeda Firm, and these ongoing recognitions only reinforce that, 10 years ago, launching my firm was the right move,” said Castañeda. “I’ve been privileged to represent numerous companies and individuals in their high-stakes litigation matters, and am grateful to continue advocating for responsible energy use in Texas.”
The 2025 Best Lawyers recognition is Castañeda’s second selection to a top attorneys list this year; in April, she claimed a spot on the 2024 Best Lawyers in Dallas list by D Magazine for business and commercial litigation.
Castañeda’s latest high-profile energy lawsuit asserts that the Texas Public Utility Commission failed to comply with Texas law by illegally driving up electricity prices and creating artificial scarcity. The announcement garnered major media attention across the state.
An influential figure in the Texas oil and gas industry, Castañeda was the 2020 Democratic nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner, is an advocate for responsible energy use, and offers commentary on the intersection of politics and the energy industry.
Most recently, the Houston Chronicle published her opinion piece criticizing Texas lawmakers who support an anti-ESG stance, stating that it’s bad for business and the environment.
