In recognition of The Castañeda Firm’s expertise in oil and gas law, Best Law Firms has named the firm among the best in the country in its 2025 publication.
This honor follows founder Chrysta Castañeda’s selection to The Best Lawyers in America, which is a requirement for a firm to be considered for Best Law Firms: at least one attorney must be included on that year’s list. After meeting that initial criterion, firms undergo a research and review process before selection.
In addition to Ms. Castañeda’s multi-year selections to The Best Lawyers in America, she has also spent the last several years on similar top attorney publications, including Texas Super Lawyers and D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas. She’s been a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation since 2020.
Regarding firmwide recognitions, in addition to multiple years of selection to Best Law Firms, The Castañeda Firm also earned a spot on the prestigious Chambers USA Regional Spotlight Guide this year, once again for Energy & Natural Resources law. Additionally, the firm celebrated its 10-year anniversary in July.
Since The Castañeda Firm’s last Best Law Firms selection, Ms. Castañeda has been an active supporter of responsible energy use and consumer protection in the energy industry. In February, she sued the Texas Public Utility Commission in her latest high-profile lawsuit, alleging the agency failed to comply with Texas law by illegally driving up electricity prices and creating artificial scarcity. The following month, she published an opinion piece in the Houston Chronicle explaining the dangers of the state of Texas taking an anti-ESG stance with its finances.
